In order to obtain certificates or records from Hungary, please fill out the required form.
Certificates can be requested only if the birth, marriage, divorce or death occurred in the present-day territory of Hungary.
Requests to obtain certificates or records from Hungary are accepted in person during office hours or via mail. If you submit a request via mail, please ensure that a notary public attests to your identity and signature. Send the application forms to the diplomatic or consular representation whose area of responsibility includes the state you live in (find more information on consular districts here).
There's no consular fee for this process.
Your request will be forwarded to the competent Hungarian authorities. Generally, it will take about 3-4 weeks for you to receive the requested document(s).
