TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATIONS
We hereby inform our clients that a new Immigration Act will enter into force on 1 January, 2024.
NEW APPLICATIONS: Under subsection (2) of the new Act, RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE SUBMITTED BETWEEN 1 JANUARY 2024 and 29 FEBRUARY 2024.
Regarding APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BEFORE 1 JANUARY, 2024, the PROCEDURE IS SUSPENDED between January 1, 2024 and February 29, 2024.
Under subsection (3) of the Act, the validity of residence permits and permanent residence permits expiring between 1 January 2024 and 29 February 2024 is extended until 30 April 2024. A separate certificate for extending the validity period will not be issued. The provision regarding the extension of documents ensures legal residence in Hungary. Such extended residence permits might not be accepted during international travels.
Based on the above, between January 1 and February 29, the Consular Section will only be releasing visas already approved by the National Directorate-General of Alien Policing.
